On a student computer, LockDown Browser is a client program that renders material virtually identically to browsers built on the Chromium platform (like Chrome), and it is compatible with the majority of assistive technologies and assisted reading technologies. By adding features to stop cheating during online exams, Respondus Monitor improves on LockDown Browser’s technology. For example, it uses webcam and video technology to stop students from recording exam sessions and engaging in other prohibited online behavior, like recording their exam sessions.
Select Settings from the New Quiz or Classic Quiz menus in Canvas to enable Respondus Lockdown Browser for your quizzes. If it is an existing quiz, tick the box next to “Require Respondus Lockdown Browser,” whereas for new quizzes, choose Advanced Settings and then the option next to “Require Respondus Lockdown Browser.
Include Lockdown Browser in your curriculum so that you can use it to practice using it before exams with both students and yourself. Make sure to keep the link to this practice test in the course navigation open until the completion of the course.
