The University of Washington is recognized as the top entity in the U.S. and holds the No. 2 spot worldwide for library and information management, according to the QS World University Rankings by Subject published this Wednesday. Four additional disciplines from UW made it to the top 10.
This assessment evaluates an analysis of reputation and scholarly output, performed by QS Quacquarelli Symonds, covering academic fields at 5,203 institutions globally. The ranking comprises 1,747 institutions across 148 locations, encompassing more than 55 subjects across five main faculty areas: arts and humanities; engineering and technology; life sciences and medicine; natural sciences; and social sciences and management.
The UW boasts 31 programs within the top 100, with 16 in the top 50, and five disciplines in the top 10, which include:
- Library and information management — No. 2
- Nursing — No. 6
- Geology — No. 8
- Geophysics — No. 9
- Earth and marine sciences — No. 10
