celebrate-vivaldi’s-‘four-seasons’-with-les-arts-florissants

The celebrated Baroque music group Les Arts Florissants (LAF) is embarking on a 21-city tour across North America to commemorate the 300th anniversary of Antonio Vivaldi’s cherished “Four Seasons.” This tour is headed by the talented young violinist and committed LAF artist Théotime Langlois de Swarte, and will take place at Hodgson Concert Hall on March 15 at 7:30 p.m.

Originally published in 1725, Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” remains one of the most acclaimed compositions in history, significantly contributing to the composer’s renown. Théotime Langlois de Swarte remarks, “For one of the most recognized composers in Western music, it is remarkable that there are still so many dimensions to uncover.”

This spring 2025 tour represents the first occasion since 2001 that Les Arts Florissants will traverse the entire breadth of America. Additionally, it is notable for being the first LAF tour conducted by an artist from the third generation of Les Arts Florissants.

The tour’s repertoire, featuring 12 musicians, enhances Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” by incorporating compositions from Monteverdi, Uccellini, and Geminiani, Baroque innovators who shaped Vivaldi’s style, as well as those who were subsequently influenced by him.

Join fellow attendees for a complimentary pre-performance discussion led by Brian Roach in Ramsey Concert Hall from 6:45-7:15 p.m.

This event is made possible by the support of Marty Farnsworth and Richard Owens.
