Texas A&M University Silver Taps is scheduled for Tuesday, March 4, at 10:30 p.m. to commemorate the following students:

  • Lyndon C. Colbert, a sophomore pursuing a general engineering degree from Desoto, Texas.
  • Victor Guerrero, a sophomore majoring in materials science and engineering from Brenham, Texas.
  • Alice May Zheng, a senior studying biology from Sugar Land, Texas.

The Silver Taps event will take place at the Academic Plaza. In tribute to their memory, the campus will be dimmed at 10:20 p.m. Students, along with family and friends, will quietly assemble in the plaza in front of the Academic Building. At 10:30 p.m., an honor guard from the Ross Volunteer Company will procession slowly to the plaza where they will perform three rifle volleys.

Anyone wishing to express condolences to the families may email [email protected], or deposit a letter in one of four memorial boxes positioned in Academic Plaza, the Memorial Student Center 12th Man Hall, around the Quad, or in front of the West Campus Dining Facility.

To maintain the quietude of the ceremony, those residing on campus are requested to cover windows, minimize noise, and travel to and from the event in silence.

Silver Taps occurs on the first Tuesday of each month from September to April, as required, following the passing of a student. It serves as one of the final honors held for any current professional, graduate, or undergraduate student who has passed within the academic year.
