Florida State University’s College of Nursing has been honored as the first health professions program in the country to offer students a complete academic route to lifestyle medicine certification.

This recognition was revealed by the American College of Lifestyle Medicine.

This designation guarantees that students registered in the Doctor of Nursing Practice Lifestyle Medicine pathway will complete all requirements necessary to qualify for the lifestyle medicine certification examination conducted by the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine.

Earning this certification reflects a professional’s proficiency in the evidence-based management, reversal, and prevention of chronic illnesses. At present, over 8,000 healthcare professionals globally possess lifestyle medicine certifications.

Alicia Craig-Rodriguez, a clinical professor and coordinator of the Lifestyle Medicine track at the FSU College of Nursing, oversees the program.

“This significant designation indicates that FSU’s rigorous program is committed to offering students an in-depth exploration of lifestyle medicine education and training,” she stated.

FSU College of Nursing Dean Jing Wang expressed her views regarding this accomplishment.
