Throughout the last year, the Skidaway Institute of Oceanography has experienced a variety of achievements, enhancements, new initiatives, and significant programs and investigations.
The institute commenced 2024 with the return of the R/V Savannah after a refurbishment that included equipment enhancements and a 12-foot extension. It concluded the year with a thriving Semester at Skidaway program, which brought seven undergraduate learners to the coast for practical, experiential education.
Skidaway is a multidisciplinary research and training facility situated on Skidaway Island in close proximity to Savannah. Established in 1967, it engages in research across all domains of oceanography and acts as the university’s portal to coastal and marine ecosystems.
