Lockdown Browser Android

Computer-based testing can be an incredible resource for students, teachers and institutions; however, its convenience makes it all too easy for some to cheat.

Schoology allows instructors to require Lockdown Browser on any test/quiz or course assessment without impacting its functionality or an instructor gradebook submission from students. This does not interfere with gradebook grading of student submissions.

Kiosk Mode

Android tablets and phones can serve a range of business uses, from self-service, point-of-sale (POS), kiosks and more. Unfortunately, however, they can also become sources of distraction for workers, leading to lower productivity levels as well as security breaches or cyber-attacks. By employing an Android Kiosk mode solution businesses can easily control and limit these devices to running one app, several preselected ones or just web browsing – which in turn ensures maximum productivity from every Android device used for business.

Kiosks offer more than apps; they also prevent users from changing device settings or making changes through hardware keys such as power, volume and home screen buttons – keeping the device secure against security risks or accidental exit from kiosk mode by employees or customers.

By default, Fully Kiosk doesn’t require admin privileges on an Android device to function as a kiosk and can be set up as one across various models. Apart from locking devices and managing applications on all of them automatically, Fully Kiosk also allows companies operating fleets of tablet kiosks in logistics, retail or manufacturing to track device locations automatically and apply branding; making it an excellent solution.

A config file is straightforward to create and can be imported directly from the cloud or remote admin. Beyond enabling kiosk mode, the configuration file can also be customized to include apps from device catalog or website whitelists.

Access can also be restricted to the camera, microphone and more for additional security measures. A password can also be set for configuring, while notifying center and pull-down notifications may also be disabled for greater peace of mind.

config files may also contain more advanced settings, including specific background colors or images for lock screen wallpaper and device wallpaper. This allows for customization to meet the specific needs of your company or business – for example you could set one background color that matches that of your brand logo across devices for improved brand consistency across all of them. Among its other advanced features are pageview counters that track clicks/touches or browser reloads/reloads as well as screen ons.

Device Lockdown

Device lockdown enables students to take tests or online quizzes without distraction; fingerprint sensors, face unlock or voice unlock functionality is disabled and only access is gained through entering their PIN or password. A browser lockdown may also be used to restrict students’ access to websites or apps that don’t relate directly to what’s being assessed in an exam or quiz.

Device and browser lockdown on an Android device is an effective way of increasing student productivity during classes, tests, and online assessments as well as protecting sensitive company data from unapproved external access by blocking applications and internet usage. Administrators can enable this feature via settings, whitelist certain websites while blacklist others. Furthermore, scheduled refresh and clear browser history configurations can help further boost student performance.

Retailers and healthcare institutions both can implement device and browser lockdown measures in order to enable customers to order food on a self-service kiosk while still protecting confidential data from being accessed by outsiders. Meanwhile, healthcare institutions can enable their employees to use Android devices in order to monitor patient records and carry out administrative duties – an approach which protects sensitive medical information from being exposed by outsiders.

Logging out of an application causes its status to change to “Failed”, while diagnostic information regarding the test is displayed at the bottom of the screen. If successful, a green checkmark appears, while otherwise an X represents failure.

Device lockdown not only improves test results, but it can also prevent employees from downloading unnecessary apps or browsing distractive online platforms on the jobsite. Doing this drains battery life quickly while potentially spreading viruses that compromise professional work tablets that host company data – an expense easily avoidable by tablet lockdown solutions like CubiLock that prevent the accidental download or sharing of any files or data.

Browser Lockdown

Browser Lockdown is an alternative solution for proctoring remote exams via web browser, designed specifically to work on Chromebooks and other web-based browsers to limit student access to websites, files, applications and keystrokes – thus helping prevent cheating on an online exam.

Note that while the lockdown browser can help combat many forms of academic dishonesty, it cannot protect against other forms of cheating such as paper cheat sheets or physical aids. Therefore, students should still exercise caution when bringing personal devices such as cellphones to campus exams.

LockDown Browser is a proprietary solution, meaning we do not know its inner workings. According to experts, such security programs work better when less people know about them and can work around it. Furthermore, as it’s closed source program keeps hackers and other bad actors at bay from exploiting any vulnerabilities within its system.

Respondus LockDown Browser requires students to have a computer capable of running Chrome OS 6.0 or later and can be installed either individually on a personal computer, or at one of our campus-wide testing centers. Canvas offers the option for tests to require Respondus LockDown Browser as part of their exam; when enabled, students will have to download and install this browser when signing in for their quiz.

The browser can be used for New and Classic Quizzes in Canvas; it will not be available for Take-at-Home quizzes. Faculty should review all relevant materials including FAQs, Quick Start Guide and demonstration videos prior to mandating students use of this browser for their quizzes. If any queries arise regarding its usage please reach out directly to their campus Support Center for assistance.

Access Control

Device lockdown enables IT administrators to restrict or allow specific apps on an Android device, protecting employees from accessing inappropriate websites and helping prevent a data breach. It’s especially beneficial for businesses that rely on mobile phones for customer experience improvements while making IT admins’ lives simpler in monitoring employee use of company apps.

Device lockdown on Android devices can help companies increase productivity. In a retail setting, this feature can transform Android tablets and smartphones into self-service kiosks to support food ordering, checkout and navigation; they can then connect with back-of-house systems for payments processing or inventory management. Meanwhile in healthcare organizations device lockdown can protect patient data and prevent staff members from misappropriating personal information.

Lockdown Browser (RLDB) is also available for iPads, with exams that require it being conducted over an Ethernet connection to ensure stable Internet connection and prevent exam interruptions. Unfortunately, the iOS version of RLDB does not permit certain features like Screenshot Reader or tint or underline cursor features to be utilized.

Hacking LockDown Browser may be possible, but requires considerable time and effort. Therefore, it’s vital that all necessary measures are taken in order to prevent cheating during online tests; such as closing other utilities such as Dropbox, Google Desktop and Skype and disabling antivirus protection software.

Before taking an exam that requires RLDB, students should review the Student Quick Start Guide of their respective course in order to become acquainted with its procedures and understand what can and cannot be done on devices during online assessments in order to avoid confusion and ensure a smooth experience.
