Lockdown Browser Hcc

Many students have reported being asked by their professors to use Respondus lockdown browser and monitor program during exams, in order to prevent printing, copying, visiting URLs or accessing applications during this phase. These programs restrict students from printing copies for themselves as well as from being allowed any printing/copying/viewing/scanning etc during an exam period.

Students have expressed concern that this program constitutes an invasion of their privacy, while others have experienced compatibility or connectivity issues on their personal computers.

What is Lockdown Browser Hcc?

Respondus Lockdown Browser is an exam program that prevents you from printing, using other applications, visiting another website or searching the internet while taking an online exam. This ensures your mind alone can work on answering each question on the exam and provides a level playing field against classmates. Furthermore, Respondus Lockdown Browser prevents you from exiting until all questions have been completed and submitted, and your instructor may require Respondus Monitor – its webcam component – for your video exam session.

If your course requires the use of this proctoring software, its syllabus will explain how to download and install it before midterm or final exams. Your instructor will then provide a link via D2L where you will find an exam that necessitates its use.

Once you click the link, a window will appear asking you to close all other applications (screen capture programs, instant messaging services such as Skype etc) before continuing the exam. You will be warned multiple times to close these other programs before continuing; if any are left open NMSU may have no choice but to shut down your computer and you won’t be allowed to take part.

How to Use Lockdown Browser Hcc

If your instructor assigns an online quiz that requires Respondus LockDown Browser, they should provide a link via D2L course to download it. Home testing students may require proctoring software such as Respondus Monitor to ensure fair testing results.

Respondus LockDown Browser will notify you upon launch that any programs that might be open (like screen capture programs or instant messaging apps or search engines that might contain answers) must be closed before beginning an exam (for instance screen capture programs, instant messaging apps or searching the web for answers). Either close these manually yourself or allow Lockdown Browser to do it automatically.

Once these steps have been taken, your browser will open to your institution’s learning management system login page, enabling you to navigate directly to your exam as if using a regular browser. Your instructors might create a brief, non-graded practice exam to familiarize you with Lockdown Browser Hcc before graded quizzes are administered; this will help ensure you know how to use it properly before taking graded exams. If any issues arise when using it, try clearing problematic cookies using its built-in utility if the problem remains.
