Dwight A. McBride, the Gerald Early Distinguished Professor of African & African American Studies in Arts & Sciences and executive director of the Center for the Study of Race, Ethnicity & Equity at Washington University in St. Louis, alongside Justin A. Joyce, senior publications editor in African and African American studies, will act as series editors for “Thinking With James Baldwin.”

Launched by Manchester University Press, this new collection of books seeks to advance research on James Baldwin in innovative ways; to explore modern challenges through Baldwin’s insights and creations; and to employ Baldwin’s reflections and artistry to delve into subjects that the author may not have thoroughly examined.

McBride and Joyce, together with Douglas Field from the University of Manchester, are co-founders of the James Baldwin Review, the leading scholarly journal focused on Baldwin. Field will also contribute as an editor for the book series, along with Monika Gehlawat from the University of Southern Mississippi, and Koritha Mitchell from Boston University.
