Elizabeth Pollina, an associate professor of developmental biology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, has been honored as a 2025 Vallee Scholar by the Vallee Foundation, a global entity dedicated to promoting the progress of biomedical research and education in the medical field worldwide.

This year, she is among six emerging scientists acknowledged for their remarkable achievements and potential in pioneering ambitious and innovative fundamental biomedical research. Each scholar will be awarded $400,000 throughout a span of four years to facilitate their research endeavors.

Pollina’s group investigates how the genome preserves itself against typical deterioration, looking for methods to protect sensitive cell types from the impacts of aging and decline.
