Florida State University College of Law has recently embraced its incoming Juris Doctor (J.D.) Class of 2028. This year’s group consists of 153 first-year law scholars who have achieved the highest academic standards in the history of the institution, boasting a median LSAT score of 166 and a median undergraduate GPA of 3.93.

“This year has marked a significant achievement for the College of Law,” stated Erin O’Hara O’Connor, dean of the FSU College of Law. “The stature of our students, faculty, and alumni continues to elevate, which is evident in our climbing national rankings and the remarkable caliber of this incoming class. We eagerly anticipate fostering their growth and observing their influence both within the classroom and beyond.”

In the 2025 U.S. News & World Report rankings, FSU Law secured the No. 38 position overall and No. 17 among public law schools. Additionally, it received recognition from The Princeton Review as No. 4 in the nation for student quality of life and No. 6 for outstanding professors. These honors underscore the remarkable educational atmosphere and esteemed faculty that consistently attract top-tier candidates.

In line with this positive trend, FSU College of Law experienced a 16.7% rise in fall applications compared to the last cycle, with merely 15.9% of applicants gaining admission. This shift highlights the increasing assertiveness of FSU Law’s selection process.

“This year’s cohort of incoming students reflects a period of unprecedented selectivity and yield arising from a remarkably extensive and competitive applicant pool,” remarked Jessica Dworkin, dean of FSU Law Admissions. “At FSU Law, the students are not only bringing exceptional LSAT scores and GPAs but also a rich array of experiences, viewpoints, and backgrounds. This class is more than just a collection of prospective lawyers. They are analytical thinkers, emerging leaders, and catalysts for positive transformation, ready to influence the FSU Law community and the broader legal field with intelligence, compassion, kindness, and conviction.”

The class originates from 67 distinct undergraduate institutions and comprises students with 37 varied majors, including classics and pre-law, as well as computer science and sociology. As global travelers and learners, they converse in 19 languages apart from English (such as Arabic, Farsi, Jamaican Patois, ASL, and Mandarin) and have collectively studied or visited 77 nations. Their worldwide and interdisciplinary insights enhance the academic atmosphere and echo the interconnected essence of contemporary legal practice.

Geographically diverse, 36% of students come from outside Florida, representing 27 U.S. states and 12 international nations. The cohort ranges in age from 19 to 40, including recent graduates, mid-career professionals, parents, veterans, former educators, healthcare practitioners, and even a professional golfer.

Apart from academic pursuits, the class contributes vibrant personal interests: scuba diving, skydiving, sculpting, podcasting, and competitive dance are among the various activities that personalize and enrich the law school community.
