Michael H. Johnson, MD, a surgical professor, has been appointed as director of the Division of Urologic Surgery within the Department of Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Johnson officially took on the role on July 1 after serving as the interim director.
While serving as interim director, Johnson enhanced the division’s capabilities by attracting new urologists to aid in the clinical, educational, and research objectives of the department. Moreover, he has broadened the outreach of WashU Medicine urologic practitioners in the region by setting up new service sites across clinics in the St. Louis vicinity.
Johnson focuses on minimally invasive techniques, including robotic interventions, for urologic malignancies. As a specialist in robotically-assisted kidney and prostate procedures, he has significantly contributed to the advancement of robotic surgery within the Department of Surgery.
