The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research has identified Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis as one of eight global academic medical institutions participating in the Edmond J. Safra Fellowship in Movement Disorders Class of 2028.
Thanks to the dedication of the Edmond J. Safra Foundation, the Edmond J. Safra Fellowship in Movement Disorders is profoundly influencing the global landscape by expanding the number of clinician-researchers in movement disorders — neurologists specifically trained and skilled in diagnosing and managing Parkinson’s disease and other movement-related conditions.
Baijayanta Maiti, MD, PhD, the fellowship director in the movement disorders section and associate professor of neurology at WashU Medicine, will spearhead the new fellowship initiative. The fellow, selected from all applicants to the movement disorders fellowship as clinician-researchers, will commence on or before July 2026.
