Cybersecurity firm ESET has revealed that it unearthed an AI-driven ransomware variant named PromptLock.

Developed in Golang, this recently uncovered strain utilizes the gpt-oss:20b model from OpenAI locally via the Ollama API to create harmful Lua scripts dynamically. The publicly available language model was introduced by OpenAI earlier this month.
