The University of Washington is ranked among the top 10 U.S. public institutions based on return on investment, as reported by The Princeton Review.
The Princeton Review assessed 650 public colleges and chose 209 for the 2025 ranking. The UW achieved the 8th position overall and was the 4th among universities on the West Coast. The Georgia Institute of Technology, the University of Virginia, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill led the rankings in that order.
At the UW, 71% of undergraduate students complete their education without any known debt, and over 86% of graduates either secure employment or enroll in graduate programs within seven months following graduation. Since 2007, more than 60,000 individuals from Washington State have received tuition and fee assistance through the Husky Promise.
The Best Value Colleges were assessed based on academic performance, cost-effectiveness, and the career opportunities available to graduates. Information was gathered from fall 2024 to spring 2025, including feedback from institutional and student surveys. Over 40 metrics were considered, covering academics, expenses, financial aid, debt levels, graduation statistics, and career and salary data. Further details on the methodology can be found on The Princeton Review’s website.
